Rehabilitation of the 4x75 gas plant and installation of 1x300mva power transformer at the Ogorode power plant in Sapele Delta State Nigeria.
Project Client:
Refurbishment of the 300MW gas plant colocated in the sapele steam power station in ogorede.
Project Location:
Ogorode, Delta State, Nigeria
Project Description:
Refurbishment of the 300MW gas plant colocated in the sapele steam power station in Ogorode.
Problem:
The Sapele Power plant has been poorly maintained due to lack of technical know-how, also, the plant has not been overhauled since it was built in 1978. the asset was originally designed to be a combined cycle power plant, which was never achieved, this anomaly heightened the complexity of operations, the initial design was altered in two folds, an open cycle gas plant and combined cycle steam plant. The gas plant which has 4 turbines needed to be changed because the turbines were originally not designed for the Nigeria weather condition.
FGI Solution:
FGI re-designed the original framework to enable us carry out the tasks in two phases: the first phase entailed replacing just the turbines with GE frame 9E turbines, the second phase entailed rehabilitation and reconditioning of the existing 300MVA power transformer to cut cost and deliver the project on time. The first phase has been successfully completed and the plant has increased its output to meet both company target and power demand in Nigeria.
